    The Lorraine Barge
In 2010 the Lorraine will offer two exciting and different itineraries—one in Burgundy and the other in the North East of France in Alsace-Lorraine. Burgundy cruises will be available 10 April thru 02 July 2010. There will then be two transitional cruises as she cruises from Burgundy to Alsace-Lorraine, and the Alsace-Lorraine cruises will operate from 17 July thru 30 October 2010.
The Burgundy cruise route is ideal for first-time bargers who would like to savour a taste of France in a region easily accessible by high speed TGV train from central Paris. You will cruise partially on canal and partially on river, and will see and experience one of the loveliest regions of France, its wonderful wines, gourmet cuisine, architecture, history and the warmth of it inhabitants.
The Alsace region is rich in history and has a very strong regional culture. It is also one of the best wine routes in France with many relatively unknown treasures. As you cruise the majestic Vosges Mountains tower in the distance with turreted castles, and you will float through picturebook villages with brilliant displays of petunias and geraniums, making this a most memorable cruise. The Lorraine is a very comfortable barge with a spacious living area, bar and separate dining room. Each of these areas has large picture windows so you have an excellent view of the exterior at all times. She accommodates 22 passengers in 11 identical twin cabins, some of which have a third bed that folds out from the wall and can be used for younger children wishing to sleep in the same cabin as their parents—either on the ‘Family Cruise’ weeks or as a charter with more than 22 people. Bathrooms are small but functional, comprising a shower, washbasin with shelves and WC. The perfect barge for couples, groups of friends or large charter groups. Can also cruise in tandem with the Caprice barge, for groups of up to 42 guests.
