    Emma Barge

‘Emma’ celebrates her 104th birthday in 2009 and her proud owners, René and Liz (your captain and chef) invite you aboard to share the warm welcome and inviting comfort of this historic vessel. The Emma has been beautifully fitted out with your comfort and ease in mind and great attention has been paid to those little details to make you feel thoroughly at home. René is from Sète and has been living in the Languedoc all his life so he knows the cruise area like the back of his hand. Liz, originally from Ireland, has been cruising the canals of France with René for the past 13 years and together they will generously share with you the delights of this beautiful region. Liz is an excellent cook and nothing is too much trouble. Cabins are very attractive with large mirrors and plenty of storage space, whilst bathrooms are beautifully tiled, gleaming and spotless, with luxury bath products provided. The large sundeck with solid teak furniture means you can relax or dine outside as you wish, or alternatively seek the cool air-conditioned dining room-lounge if you prefer. In 2009 their itinerary remains Beziers—Carcassonne, taking you on the best of the Canal du Midi, meandering through the vineyards, corn and poppy fields typical of this region. This is a wonderful cruise route but if you have cruised on Emma before or simply fancy something different, it may be possible to cruise between Carcassonne and Toulouse or Beziers and Palavas (Sete), on a request basis. Whichever way you cruise, gourmet food and wine is always on the menu with plenty of local specialties to ensure that you take away lasting memories of this very real French experience.
