Originally built as a private yacht in 1994 to cruise the inland waterways of Europe, the ‘Grand Victoria’ was formerly known as the ‘Absoluut II’, and before that, the ‘Marjorie’.
Newly acquired by charismatic, adventurous spirits Edward and Cindy, the barge has now been transformed into a highly luxurious six guest hotel-barge with three identically sized double/twin suites of a world class standard (each one a combined 180 sq/ft including en suite bathroom).
Edward, Cindy and their dedicated team have also totally refurbished the living areas during the winter of 2015/2016, incorporating all new furniture and décor upgrades to both the light and spacious salon and dining areas.
Standards on board will of course remain very high and we feel that in 2017 the ‘Grand Victoria’ will go from strength to strength as one of the most luxurious vessels cruising in Burgundy. The huge picture windows in the lounge and dining room allow natural light to flood in at all times, creating a wonderful ambiance for relaxation and dining. Excellent bikes are carried on board for guests’ use, and a fantastic selection of films are available for that (rare!) rainy day. Outside on the sun deck guests can relax in this pleasantly shaded area and the jacuzzi spa pool provides another decadent alternative option.
Vineyards, châteaux, vibrant markets, gentle country lanes and quaint villages all await you on this very personal cruise, and in the evening, Edward and Cindy propose to you a favourite cocktail, perhaps some nostalgic music of your choice or even a themed evening such as a ‘Murder Mystery’ or similar…
Afternoon tea and buffet lunches are also a treat on the ‘Grand Victoria’ in 2017, and they are even offering a complimentary laundry service for guests, and a hamper in guests’ cabins. A hot air balloon ride is also included in her classic cruise rate (but not in golf or wine themed cruises). A wonderful week awaits you!
