Built in 1928 and converted to a luxury cruising barge in 1993, the Hirondelle enoys the reputation of being one of the very best barges in France, cruising in 2008 two delightful itineraries on two of the most tranquil and beautiful waterways in all of Europe: the Burgundy Canal the Canal du Rhône au Rhin. Life aboard this charming vessel combines gourmet food and wines with the elegant, spacious accommodation that you might find on a well-appointed private yacht. Daily excursions to places of cultural or historic interest (according to your tastes) make each day pleasantly relaxed, with no obligatory schedule or rushing from place to place. Your personal Barge Guide will show you the best the region has to offer and provides an intimate view of the vineyards, abbeys, wine cellars and chateaux of France. Good quality bikes are also carried on board which means you are free to explore from vilage to village as and when you like, perhaps cycling ahead of the barge at times to discover places that spark your interest. Hirondelle’s four bright, airy guest staterooms and her spacious living/dining area provides a very convivial atmosphere for conversation, cocktails and meals alike. Lush plantings extend to the top deck, where tables, deck chairs and colorful umbrellas create delightful areas for relaxing, sunbathing and simply watching the world float by. The Hirondelle is available for hire on a charter or per cabin basis. Sister ship to the Alouette, both the Hirondelle and Alouette can be hired to ‘barge in tandem’ providing additional accommodation for larger groups of up to 14 guests—perfect for private family charters or celebratory cruises with friends. |
